Berry Banana Protein Smoothie

If you're looking for a simple, delicious, nutrient- and protein-packed smoothie, this is it! This smoothie is perfect for breakfast or a post-workout meal. I could easily drink this every day and I pretty much do! Give it a try for yourself and let me know what you think.

I like mixed berries because of the different flavors but feel free to add whatever berries you like. Also, the more ripe the banana is, the sweeter it will be. I like to use ones that have some brown spots but are not fully brown yet. If you're not a banana fan, try swapping it out for some frozen avocado! Avocado gives smoothies more of a creamy consistency and its flavor is mild enough to be masked by the rest of the ingredients.

Berry Banana Protein Smoothie

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Serves: 1 smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 ripe banana, cut into pieces (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 cup of berries (fresh or frozen) - I use blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries

  • 1-2 cups non-dairy milk - I prefer unsweetened vanilla almond milk

  • 1 Tbs. chia seeds or hemp seeds

  • 1 serving of vanilla protein powder - I love Nuzest's Smooth Vanilla*

  • 1 scoop greens powder (optional)

Preparation

  1. Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Notes

  • The ripeness of the banana is important here: if the banana is more starchy (yellow) than sweet (ripe and browning), your smoothie will taste dull.

  • Smoothies should be made fresh. This will thicken and lose flavor if it sits for too long.
