自小練就了一身好功夫的范克（姜大衛(wèi)）帶著父親的遺愿前往泰國(guó)找尋臂上有梅花刺青的同父異母兄弟和其母親，一場(chǎng)錯(cuò)認(rèn)親的誤會(huì)過(guò)后，他結(jié)識(shí)青年拳手汶烈（狄龍），因?yàn)檎劦脕?lái)，兩人很快成為朋友。
為了救治重病中的母親，汶烈答應(yīng)參加同拳王重炮的比賽，但拒絕同重炮幕后有黑社會(huì)背景的推手合作。比賽現(xiàn)場(chǎng)范克通過(guò)汶烈身上的紋身知曉他就是自己的哥哥，卻已無(wú)法阻止比賽，好在汶烈最終獲勝，但無(wú)疑因此惹下麻煩，然而他們沒(méi)想到的是，更大的麻煩正在前面。
